At the Quarter finals of the FIBA Africa Champions Cup Women, team Elephant Girls of Nigeria were given a run for their money before defeating FAP of Cameroon, 66-69.
With a nine-player rotation against 11, the Elephant Girls worked extra hard to crack open the Cameroonian defense. Like a marathon race, both teams were dragging shoulder to shoulder, up until the last quarter the winning team narrowly got it. The much needed breakthrough came from Akaraiwe Nkem who made a shot way off beyond the arc. That shot was actually her second attempt at the tournament so far. Aisha Mohammed was on fire (90% FG) hitting up most points in the game with support from her teammates, especially from Jasmine Nwajei -known for scoring - racked up nine assists. Semi-final game, the team would match up with the host, Ferroviario Maputo, on Saturday. 18:00 GMT +2 All the ladies played greatly, but let's take a look at the stats based on points: 19 Aisha Mohammed 23p 7r 2s 12 Akaraiwe Nkem 15p 8r 4s 16 Ginette Mfutila 13p 8r 1a 1s
