Nigerian-Australian athlete, Elizabeth Cambage gave a goodwill message over her Instagram account for how far she had spent this year, 2018 and hopes for greater things ahead come 2019.
"Well damn 2018... you were a crazy ass roller coaster of a year, full of the highest of high and a few tough lows, and I’m so thankful for all it. I’m so proud of myself this year, 2 tournaments and 2 seasons of basketball where I lead the stats, broke records and made noise every time I touched a ball. I took home 3 All Star 5 awards, a commonwealth gold medal and FIBA silver medal... Not bad for girl who had well and truly lost her love for the game and did it all after a year and half away from the court. There’s no way I could do the things I do with out all the love from my family, friends and fans. I have so much love for you all and I’m so grateful that I have people around me who support me and constantly push be to be better and do better. This year I did loose track of listening to my body, and I’ve pushed myself too hard. It’s so frustrating as an athlete to be told you need to stop and you need to take a break, but I’m taking everything as it comes and using this time to rehab and really get my body ready for 2019. So see ya later 2018, and thank you for all the good and all the bad, because that’s the shit that makes me stronger, wiser and braver. Whatever you want to do and achieve in 2019, you have the power within you it make it yours, you just have to believe it and chase it. Everything you want is on the other side of fear. Sending lots of love and light to you all for an amazing 2019"
