The two teams representing Nigeria faced off for game three of the competition Defenders Vs Rivers Hoopers. The two teams heading into the game knew the results of the match decides who stays on top as the best team representing their nation.
A keenly contested first quarter saw the Defenders fall prey to the intensity of play and defense of the Port harcourt Nigerian side River Hoopers, finishing the quarter with a hard fought 7 point lead (14) - (21). Going into the second quarter the Defenders sought to fight back into the game but could only fall short of an extra 3 points as the Hoopers stretched their lead to 10 points at the end of the second quarter. Quarter ended (38) - (48). Third Quarter saw the Defenders close in on the Hoopers cutting the lead down to 6 points at the end of the quarter. Victor Koko had 12 points, 8 rebounds and 6 blocks. Buchi Nwaiwu finished with a career high 35 points, 6 rebounds and 2 blocks was the man for the Hoopers who helped his team outwit the Defenders scooping 35 points. No 4, Ijiba Joel of Defenders, 16points couldn't help his team from losing to the hoopers. The game ended with a five point difference after the fight between the two teams, game ended at (84) - (89).
