The 'Giants of Africa' indeed has began to prove their worthy in the ongoing Special World Summer Olympics games in UAE.
Earlier team SO Nigeria was given a warmly send-forth party which was held at Vigeo Holdings Nigeria Limited Ikoyi, Lagos. The ceremony took place in honor of the Special Olympics Nigeria athletes competing at the 2019 World Summer Games in Abu Dhabi, UAE from the 14th to the 21st of March 2019. Historically, it's the 50th edition that has attracted many Sports fanatic all over the globe. Also, the huge performance by various athletes therefore increasing memories of the Special Olympics World Games is indeed irresistible. The Nigeria team has participated in eight Olympic-type sports –Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Football, Table-tennis, Volleyball, Swimming and Cycling. As a result, they have won total of 7 gold medals, 6 silver and 5 bronze in the following events: Badminton, Athletics, Swimming among others. However, the team have shown true patriotism and optimism even during the match past from the smile on their faces with their colorful traditional attires. Additionally, the tournament has drown the attention of ex-int'l players and Sports icons across World including former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba, Kristijan Durasek, Yousif Mirza among others. Drogba who appealed to others famous African stars that they should endeavor to take the Summer Olympics Games serious as it will enhance the athletes performance and bring development into the championship. He also played a novelty match alongside some superstars thereby adding value to the fascinating event attended by calibers from all works of life. Further more, the tournament is featuring 7,000 participants who are currently in the UAE, Abu Dhabi for the event that began since. Although, everything seems to be walking in favor of team Nigeria as the West-Africa country looks comfortable in all their outings. In conclusion, the 2019 Special Olympics World Summer Games is one of the largest sports and humanitarian event in the world and it has brought together 7,000 athletes, 3,000 coaches, 1,500 officials, 20,000 volunteers, 3,000 honored guests, 6,000 family members and over the globe.
