Athletes, Organizers looks ready ahead of 19th National Sports Festival

Frills and trills awaits Sports fanatics as the Organizers and Athletes seems fully ready ahead of the 19th edition of the National Sports Festival which is scheduled to hold 6th-16th December in the Federal Capital City, Abuja.

Also, the Games Villages will open on December 4, 2018 across FCTenvirons. Although, “Hosts of Sports Festivals are usually selected through competitive bidding but due to paucity of funds, so many states are reluctant to bid but I am optimistic that Abuja will put up a good show and host the 19th National Sports Festival which has
suffered series of postponements”.

Meanwhile, a total of 8,861 delegates from the 36 states of the federation and the FCT will be accommodated at the 5 designated games villages.

The delegates made up of athletes, coaches, team officials and state delegates will be hosted at the University of Abuja, NYSC Orientation Camp in Kubwa, Regina Pacis College Gariki, Government Science Secondary School Maitama and Government Girls Secondary School Dutse.

However, in readiness for the events, the previous host Lagos State, Delta, Rivers, Edo, Kano, Bayelsa including the current host (FCT) has been camping ahead of the long-awaited Sports Festivals.

Earlier, we run across Athletics star Isah Salihu, youngest champion Rosemary Chukwuma among others at the Track and Field putting finishing touch to their speed in order to fully participate at the remarkable event.

In Volleyball, the likes of Mathew Ijeh (National Player), Isah Sedrack and Dikiyai Morris (National Player) has been training seriously to clinch their best, while famous D'tigers player Abdul Yahaya, Efe Adottah, Lucky Subel, (Coach) Immanuel Odah and the female team are working towards their team FCT Basketball victory once the games begin.

Just like Para-Sports, the combat Sports athletes has tremendously placed Nigeria in the fore front of global recognition as Karater's, Judokers, Taekwondo, Boxing and Wrestling have been grooming their favorites ahead of the mouth-watering Sports festival by next week.

Nevertheless, the likes of Tennis, Hockey, Squash, Gymnastics, Cycling, Chess, Scrabble and Football have shown readiness as their training ground are filled up on daily basics with Sports enthusiast, administrators and athletes who has been keeping their medals dreams alive with rigorous practice.

Speaking to FCT (Judo coach) Mariam Mohammed, "By the grace of God, we are sure of gold medals because we have been training of and on season. Mariam added, we have 6 male and 4 female that will represent us at the festival in various categories with aim of defending their titles" she ended.

According to FCT (Boxing Coach) Olapode Oladosu, told www.titansportsnig.com "It been one month camping, i am assuring our fans we're going to put in our best this time around. Stating that all my athletes are my champions" he finalized.

In summary, the (FMYSD) permanent Secretary, grassroots Sport Director, PMI head, Fct Sports Director, MOC, Sports Association Chairmen, Elite Director, Director of Press, LOC and other Sports Administrator has been deliberating, strategizing, working around the clock with the Honorable Minister of Youths and Sports Development to host an historical event.
