NSF: Ondo, Rivers bags gold in Volleyball

Team Ondo and Team Rivers have emerged winners of the volleyball gold medal in the men and women category respectively at the ongoing National Sports Festival in Abuja.

Ondo overcame the threats from Plateau state, beating the 3-1 (25-27, 25-21, 25-21, 25-18) in the male category, while Team Delta edged past Lagos state 3-0 (25-14, 25-19, 25-18) in the female category.

The Delta girls were impressive throughout as they dominated the three sets. In the male category, Plateau state drew the first blood but could not maintain their momentum as Team Ondo recovered to win the event.

Rivers state beat Anambra 3-1 (23-25, 25-14, 25-14, 25-18) to win a bronze medal in the male category, while Kaduna defeated Enugu 3-0 to win bronze.

The finals of the volleyball event witnessed high dignitaries like former President, Athletics Federation of Nigeria, Evangelist Solomon Ogba; chairman of the Delta State Sports Commission, Tonobok Okowa, President of Nigeria Volleyball Federation, Engineer Musa Nimrod and many others.
